Default Sizing up a FXSTC

Hi, I was wondering, am I to small for a Softail Custom ? I,m 5-10 and 165lbs, 49 and still in good condition. The salesman and my wife say I don,t fit the bike. I consider my self a very good rider but the bike does feel like a reach. Can it be made to fit ? Is it comfy for someone my size?
There,s no where around here that rents or demos FXSTC,s. I need to know, HELP. Thanks.

I'm also 5'10" with a 30" inseam. The forwards on my FXSTC could actually be a couple inches further out. I actually ordered 3" extensions but decided that might be a tad too much and canceled the order. I now have a Kury mustache bar for long trips and it works well for me. If you say it's a reach, you must have a shorter inseam than me. If that's the case and your not comfortable, you might check out a model with mid-controls.

I'm 5'8 and ride an 08 FXSTC. Fits me great other than the fact that I can't quite flat foot it very well. Holding it up on one foot is not a problem though. Sometimes I wish the controls were about 3 inches further out for my feet when i'm on a long ride.

Why don't you fit? What did the salesman try to sell you?
Did he tell you to get a Boss Hoss?
What about this? Click here

i rode my buddies '09 a few times and no your not too small

i'm 5'9" and built pretty well, only thing i had a problem with is trying to walk the bike backwards uphill (strength aint the problem, my legs are too damn short)

if that becomes an issue just change the seat

i like the custom better than the night train, but they werent making it in '03

My brother is 5'8" and rode my night train no problem. He was really streched out tho. If you end up needing to be closer to the controls Harley makes the reach seat. It pushes you and inch forward. And if you have trouble touching the ground lower the bike an inch or more if you need to.

Well you could always get a sportster..........
That would probably fit underneath you good....
It probably wouldn't look like it was too big for you.

However there are guys on this site your size that ride Street Glides as well as Ultra Glides...

So does that answer your question?

I'm 5'10'' and weigh 170 pounds (usually) and after a day or two with my '08 Softail Custom I felt very comfortable with it. You can always get the handlebars tilted a wee bit toward you if you think you are reaching too much. Simple to do and the dealer would do it for you before buying the bike.
