Thumbs up Oven cleaner

I've reading about Easy-Off Oven Cleaner being used to clean stubborn boot burns and whatnot from chrome pipes. Well I tried it today, and it worked like a charm. Before I left for work this morning, I sprayed the stuff on my heat shields and pipes. I took my truck to work, by the way. Tonight, about 12 hrs later I went out to the garage and wiped off the residue. The stains came off with virtually no effort on my part. The stains just wiped off. These are stains that have been burned on there for a long while. I thought the stains were permanent. Thanks to the people on these forums I have an easy way to clean my pipes safely. If you decide to do it be sure to spray only on cool pipes. I've read other posts when folks have sprayed easy off on hot pipes and had a real hard time with that.

Yep, works great, make sure to get the cold oven cleaner and not the hot.

Glad it worked for you. My only recommendation is to spray it on a rag to apply as opposed to putting it directly on the bike due to the possibility of overspray. I jsut heated up the bike, sprayed it on a rag and voila, it came right off too. Good stuff. But be careful as it will mess up you engine3 and aluminum. Others have had this problem.

Glad it worked but you do not need to heat up the bike, it's made to be applied cold.

So cold oven cleaner will not eventually ruin the chrome? It sounds like it would be very hard on the shine... My pipes have large marks from throw over bags that rested on them from the previous owner.

The directions on the can of Easy-Off I have says to spray on a hot oven. So after riding one day I sprayed some on a spot where there was a boot burn. I let is sit for a minute and then wiped the spot right off. I used a piece of cardboard to avoid overspray. Once the pipes were cool I then cleaned them to ensure there was no leftover chemicals on them.
