I must say that although I have always been an avid HD rider, I have not order a new HD since I ordered my 96" FXDL and the wait time was like 1.5 years. I called the dealership on Friday to see about when I needed to place a deposit on a new Road King or Heritage, as I want to get myself on a 2010 model, and the salesman said no problem, just in the fall on 09' come in and put the deposit down and that will be plenty early. He said the wait time has decreased considerably from what it used to be. He went on to say that it is now no problem to get a bike within a few months. Here is my question.....why the change? It is a different dealer than I used before all those years ago, but he shaved a whole year off the wait time....what gives?
Thanks all

Been that way for years now. Even the CVO's people are only waiting a matter of a few months. I bought my bike brand new off the floor and they had another in the crate.
Plenty of stock out there, but it is changing. They are cutting back production. Why is it you want a 2010?
Because I want to pay cash for it, and since I currently have a bike to ride, 1 more season to save, without a new bike is not a big deal. Not too mention, then it won't be a year old in 2010, it will be fresh off the assembly line!
May go with either the Road King or a Heritage, not sure...maybe something else in production will catch my eye then.
Those days are over, I hope for ever. you can buy off the floor and get 3-4k off the list depending on the model, example a Rocker C lists for $19,400.00 you can get one for $15,500.00
HD is offering 23% off list right now.
They did reduce production to attempt to hold prices and maintain stock market value.
They hope to see a wait for product again.
I purchased a new heritage softail classic in 90 for 10k my uncle bought the same bike 7 years later for 3k over list now they are back where they should be.
Supply and demand, look at the Street glide and the Ultra classic because the SG is popular it is somewhat close to a Classic in price.
You sure can talk them down on a Classic a lot more than you can a SG right now.
