Thumbs up Power Commander V

Im not sure if this thread is already started. I did a search but nothing came up, so i guess i will start one. I was just tooling around on the puter and came across an article about a new PC-V only available for the 2009 models. Here is the link....

I'm running a PCIII, but if I were to do it all over again, I'd go with the TTS Master Tune.

These are all sorts of, "cut boxes" or piggyback fuel enhancers. You are riding a preset/pre-programmed ECM.

http://www.harley-davidson-forum.net...ead.php?t=7939

Now, I want you to hear how strange the practical thought process is as you read where he said that some website said the ECM has to reprogram for 15 minutes? YOu know how fast you can detonate an engine if the telemetry is not spot on every crank stroke is 360° worth of A/Fratio and it takes the ECM to redo itself is it just does not work that way. Say you scream up a mountain grade and it sure takes less than 15 minutes to run up the hill.

Can you imagine the engine waiting 15 minutes so it can re-fuel the correct altitude change is sit and wait 15 minutes is can you see how silly that all sounds is the bike runs in any country and any altitude is where do these people come up with generic fuel injection is did I just blow up an engine in less than 15 minutes of the ECM not knowing where it is at? LOL...

No matter the fuel triggering device, your engine runs in a fuel to air window is either rich or lean is safe on both ends being you fly an airplane up in altitude, you have to remove fuel because there is less air the higher you go. So you take the fuel trim, run it back till you watch the temp rise is she is lean-HOT is danger is lower the temp is feed more fuel is the temp is now cool running and now did you really change anything special is you have that 13:1 to 14:1 window of tune if not in the 12's being some gas guzzling racing trim if not leaner.

So, no matter the cut boxes, there is an injector that can be triggered to stay open longer in the millisecond is nano that fuel trim is all you are doing. They just doll up the display window is more or less the technology is almost like a mini-dyno on a monitor without the torque specs.

You have seat of the pants tuning is read a spark plug if you know how is another way to tune rather the dyno being hundreds of miles away.

Uh.... I'm not exactly sure what you are saying... but, pre-mapping should be used on any kind of unit based upon your mods. Units that don't have O2 sensor input need to be dyno'd to be the most efficient. Units that do use O2 sensor input typically have the abillity to quickly adjust by at least 10% from the base map and will fine tune the bike over time. Unless you are racing, an O2 sensor controlled unit doesn't need to be dyno'd in my opinion... unless you just like spending money and you want to brag that it has been dyno'd.

You can tweak the target blocks and run richer if you want to go a little faster... but creating your own custom base map override should be done on a dyno and that IS cheaper than a whole series of runs at the track.

Personally, after living with add on interrupting style ECM tuners, I would strongly recommend investing in the replacement ECM types such as ThunderMax (and a couple of others that I haven't had enough coffer yet to remember their name... Terry?)
