Default FLSTN transmission drain plug

Is there a trick in removing the transmission drain plug on a 2008 FLSTN? When backing out the drain plug the 5/8" socket would not back all the out because it would hit the shock. Any suggestions?

The drain plug is centered between the 2 shocks. I didn't have any problem. Any normal 5/8" socket should fit.

I'm pretty sure that the plug is both a hex and an allen. If your socket is too thick, you can use an allen wrench.

Try putting your socket on an extension.

didn't have a problem....found re-installing was easier using a t-handled hex...then the socket to tighten.

I'll have to try my t handle to reinstall next time as getting it started is a bitch. Whose hands fit in that tiny frekin' space?

I use a 5/8 deep socket and a 3" extension. Never had a problem getting the drain plug out. I'm gonna have to try that T-handle allen, cuz getting it started back in IS a bitch.
