I am new to owning a bike, just got a 2005 fat boy, the first thing I decided to do was change the pipes, I decided on the vance and hines big radius. Anybody know where I can purchase these pipes the cheapest online? Is it possible to install these pipes my self and what else is needed to be done for me to install the pipes that wont mess up the bikes engine? I heard about the power commander and the air filter and plan on getting them eventually but would like to add stuff slowly and enjoy my new scooter without being broke!!!! so any help would greatly be appreciated.....
I have V&H Straightshots on my 01 Fatty EFI. When they were installed, (!st owner), the EFI had to be tuned in. I am guessing the same must be done for all pipe changes. I am thinking about getting the Big Radius myself. Let me know how they sound. You shouldn't have any problems with the install.
The cheapest place to get your parts would be EasternsPerfomance. They have link on this site as well as an eBay store. You can call and they will quote you a price if you don't see it on ebay. I would advise doing the whole stage 1 when you do add pipes. You could probaby do it yourself, but I don't know how mechanically inclined you are. Another note is that the Big Radius look good, but performance wise they give a low Dyno reading. Porker has some pipes that look like Big Radius that do a better performance.
try www.gopartsdirect .com or www.cyborgcycles.com there pretty cheap. As for the sound of the big radius pipes they sound good a friend of mine has them but they blow drit and stuff all over your bike.
bassani makes a nice pipe called pro street alot cheaper than vance hines and they are great
in dyno tests one of the highest ratings.check it out. northcountycustoms.com retail $429
and every one has vance and hines be original.good luck
As far as pipe I have V&H Long Shots and love them. Check J & P for price. If you are going to buy a bit of goodies then get yourself a Gold Card with J & P before buying pipes you will save a ton of money by the end of your first year. I did at least. Post some pics when you get a chance.
