Default How Low

How low can you lower a softail(09 night train) with out going with an air ride system. I thought I read somewhere that someone had lowered their bike 4 inches, but I cannot find it anymore. Also what parts did you use? All I could find were 2" kits.
Thanks

Thumbs up

Use the HD low profile shock pt.#54651-05 $350.00 US this will give you approx. 2" drop, no lower. If you want it lower, probably have to go to air-ride system. then i guess you can go as low as you want, ex. fender resting on tire.

If you lower it 4" it would only be an inch or so off the ground. could be a tough ride. the most I have ever seen lowered was 2" Just go with that, if using the stock shocks and that low will be a rough ride. Your choice. Air ride is the best system as you can adjust the hieght with a push of a button

I just switched to air.
I have a set of Progressive 413 chrome lowering shocks for sale. Less than 2,500 miles on them $225.00 shipped.
Let me know.

If you lower more then 2" you run into potential belt clearance issues at the drive pulley.

I lowered mine 2.5" rear and 2 front w/ no problems. Little rougher ride but, not bad, buy shocks not bolts if your gonna go low its worth the extra money. I had this on my stock fender too. There is a bump stop between your swingarm and frame that keeps it from going to low. I've heard of guys shaving these to get a little more but I don't think there is a need w/ a stock fender.

Lundee or squirrelu, what shocks did you use to get 2 1/2" inches? All the ones I see just say 2inches. I was really only looking for 2 1/2 inches, but some bikes I see with 2 inch drop don't even look lowered and then some bikes just look slammed.
