Question right side drive?

Ok, so what's the deal with the right side drive stuff when it comes to exhausts? I've been doing research on exhaust systems and some pipes are for RSD bikes. Does that mean the drive belt would be on the same side as the exhaust? I assume stock Harley's are left side drive correct? And there isn't any way an RSD exhaust would fit a stock harley? Also, can or will an exhaust system that is for older models still work on the 09? Searching for the "perfect" exhaust and making sure it will fit, all the while trying to get a good price is pretty much making me nuts! Any info is appreciated! TIA

RSD exhausts are for bikes that have gone to an extremely large diameter rear tire and have had to offset the final drive to help balance out the weight of the bike.

So I guess there is no hope of having an RSD exhaust fit a stock bike? There are some really good deals out there but most seem to be RSD. I was hoping maybe I could get by with a simple mod and make one work. What about the older years? Can an exhuast made for say an 06 still work on an 09?
