Default Disc lock

Been using a disk lock for years and not going to use one anymore. Went over to my sisters and when I was leaving she followed me outside and we were talking and I forgot to remove the lock, took off and down went me and the bike. The thing that really sucks is last week I put on new chrome primary, derby cover and have new foot pegs which are all now damaged and saddle bags all scratched up also. Harley put the steering lock on the bike so going to start locking it up that way.

I did find out one thing. This softail is easier to pickup off the ground than any of the 4 stroke dirt bikes I've owned.

I thought the only danger of forgetting to take the disc lock off was tearing up your wheel. Never occurred to me that it could make you drop the bike. Ouch.

The disc lock is still one of the best, cheapest ways to protect your bike. You simply need a tether that runs from the lock up to the grip. That way when you get on the bike you will not be able to forget you have the lock on the bike.

+1 on the bright yellow or orange tether!! I run it over the seat or around the grips so you cant miss it.

I use a disk lock as well. I once forgot that it was on but luckily I was backing out of a spot so I wasn't moving very fast. I felt like I was trying to roll over a stick. Anyways, my disk lock came with a key hole plug to remind you of the lock before you can even stick the key in.

I have the Roadloc on my Heritage and it's permanently mounted to the front brake caliber. They say it has a positive locking system that prevents any damage if you try to ride off with it engaged.

But big question is will the bike go down if I drive to drive off with it on. Only way I can see that happening is if the front wheel is turned when you let the clutch out.

I think I may consider getting one of those warning cords myself.
