Mike, Yea I was looking at grade 8 bolts for this job..

[QUOTE=tomhummer;4725218]I added this part to give my bars more heighth...they say one inch on this pic but i put 1.5" risers on mine and they worked great...that should give you the clearance you need...don't need to get rid of your bars...these go between the tree and the bottom of your bars

Tomhummer

Were did u get those spacer? I might need them if this doesnt work out..

Here is the plan.. See if I can get a speedo that will fit or have one made.. I want a small one that will fit in the cavity of the huge one i just ripped out (gently removed).. This is my "right now" fix... I got it started and everything works (cross fingers)... If anyone know of any potential problems running it with out a speedo please advise...I did cover up all the exposed plugs.. All ready just waiting now on a caliper and tire...

Also I sent out the stock forward control mounts for chroming, should have them on friday..

hey brother, i was stared at your post for a while trying to come up with a solution and the spacer idea eluded me too. definitely go with the spacers.

as far as my project? i got the front wheel in yesterday (wednesday) it's not installed on the bike yet but when we pulled it out of the box and eyeballed it, guess what ????? it looks like it's gonna fit. YEAH !!!! you heard correctly, it looks like it's gonna fit.

now we have to fit the front fender, send both the fenders out to paint and i'm on the road again !!! can't freaking wait !!!

by the way, if you find a way to replace that damn speedo with something that doesn't stick up that far you'll be loved around these parts my friend.

I've been wrecking my head looking for something to get rid of that ugly thing on top of the tank

Here's the ones I ordered...they are 1.5" rise for 1.5" handlebars...they have other sizes for different bars...either 1" or 1.25" and the 1.5" of course...different rise sizes also

Hey Joe, want to be a guinne pig for one of my hair brained ideas? Dakota Digital makes a 2-1/16" diameter mini-speedo/tach that is only 1" deep. I was going to try removing the cup from the stock spedo and drill out the console to fit. Looks to me like there is a hole to fill but I'm sure we could come up with something.

Turbo and for all fellow rockers, this is what i have found out with help from Turbo..

Here is the right up on it..

This gauge is industry standard 2-1/16" diameter and features an outboard control module (which measures 3"x3"x1.5") that centralizes wiring for easy installation, and minimizes wire running to the gauge itself. This gauge features a non-glare, high-brightness, vacuum fluorescent graphic display with no engraved annunciators for a black out effect when off.

The HLY-3015 is packed with features including a 199 MPH speedo, user selectable 0-5000, 0-8000 or 0-16,000 RPM bar graph tach, menu driven set up and calibration, odometer/trip, plus indicators for turn signals, high-beam, neutral, low oil pressure and check engine for fuel injected models.

User selectable screens allow the rider to display speed only, speed with odometer and trip, or speed with bar graph tach.

The HLY-3015 has many mounting options: flush mounted into a tank, bar mounted into a cup or bracket, the possibilities are endless. 2-1/6" diameter cutout, 2-3/16" overall diameter, 1-1/2" deep

Ok I found it at phat performance for about 425.00 not to include the cup if need one.. I cant order it until I seel some of my parts or until next month.. If anyone knows of a place that would be cheaper HOLLER...
