Default Work in progress

Well, as a lot of you know I went down a month or so back. I just thought I'd post a teaser to show my progress. Most of the remaining work is on the front end. ( Bobbed FL Springer Fender) The color didn't turn out as dark as I thought it would. But I still like it. (Blends well with the smoked brake light) The painter messed up the originally supplied decal. (34 Flying Diamond) Used a set of 93 FX decals.

Hopefully.....today. Though the weather sucks here right now. So the earliest I'll be able to get it ouside to clean and photo will be Sunday.
I could not imagine the problems I ran into. But I suppose I could have dropped it off at the dealer...........NOT.
I didn't realize they had changed the brackets inside the tank for the sending unit/fuel pump. But have no fear da Coons here. I sectioned my damaged stocker. Removed the bracket. Went in from the top of the replacement tank and removed it's bracket. And spot welded the 08 brackets into the 06 tank. Time consuming but cheaper than a "new" 08 tank or a "new" 06 pump/sending unit. Considering I paid $50.00 for the 06 tank off eBay. And everything went back together slick as can be when completed. The reaction to this modification stunned the guys at the dealership. Like I told them.... "If it can be constucted it can be unconstructed and modified." And that is just the beginning of the struggles to get this thing back on the road. But upon completion I will know things about my bike that most will never delve into.

Default Update.....Finished the build.

Ok.....Got it together a minute ago and rolled it out into the drizzle to snap a pic. I'll clean it up Sunday and get some other pictures. If you saw the Crossbones and other Springers posted on the webpage from Warrs H.D. in London. You'll understand the theme. I contacted them about their exhaust and they quoted a price which translated to $1800.00. I built this one for $300.00. Based on a Paughco header, O2 bungs, and Muffler and Clamp off eBay. Just about everythin came off eBay. Turning this rebuild into a total makeover. For about what just a new Springer fork would have cost from a dealer.

Nice job Dave. Now it needs a black engine guard. Trust me.

Hey thanks guys....I appreciate the good karma and all. I've been going nuts without my ride. Luckily I'm seeing a understanding lady.

I don't know about an engine guard though higg. Though I do indeed understand their value. Thinking about going the narrow beach bar route. I have everything at hand. Maybe after a little road time first. I'm Jonesing really bad.

Of course now I have to determine what to call this thing. It really ain't a Crossbones any more. Well lets see, it has a Fatboy rear fender......... Maybe a "Fatbone". That would be fun at the local bike night......."Hey sweetie....You sure would look good sitting on my........".................. You get the picture I'm sure.
