Does anyone have a picture of their bike with the nostalgic engine guard? It seems most guys use the regular one . why doesn't anyone use the nostalgic one ? is it because it is only one inch thick ? I have a Deluxe and would think that one would be the best to keep the nostalgic look .
I took the nostalgic engine guard off our '05 Deluxe after about 200 miles. Kept scraping it on the road when making hard turns. A little un-nerving and tough on the chrome. Went with the regular engine guard and no problems since. Good ground clearance now. Our bike is at factory height and has not been lowered.

put 1 on my bike the first week I bought it, never had any problems with scraping or anything. floorboards hit first. on my bike in my sig pic and on some of my other pics in my profile.
The reason I didn't get the nostalgic guard was because I didn't care for the round 'hoop' look from the front. I preferred the bigger look of the regular one, and think it compliments the front end more.
If you look at the old bike engine guards...they are square, like the standard issue HD engine guard. That's why I decided on the regular one...to me, it is more old school because it looks like an engine guard one off of an old EL knucklehead or old Panhead.
That being said, I do like the nostalgic engine guard too...the round curve does look good, especially on the Deluxe...but the "nostalgic" title is more about the "new" nostalgic look, not the OG nostalgic look. If you don’t believe me, take a look at the old knuckle and panheads…you’ll see that the OG engine guard those bikes came with looks more like the stock engine guard than the nostalgic one.
JMHO of course...
