Default Heartland kit includes what exactly?

So I'm looking at wide tire kits for my 2003 Softail Standard and was wondering what exactly is included in the Heartland 180 conversion other than fender, struts, seat, and templates for cutting the frame horns? I believe I can find fender, struts, and seat for cheaper and I can make my own templates for cutting the frame horns.

no with the 180 you dont need to move anything with the tranny but you get struts fender splash guard and seat and fender but you can save $ buy just buying the struts fender and seat and save a little cash

That's exactly what I've done!
I've paid way less than the Heartland price (for better quality stuff as I've heard)

All parts have been fitted and look just as good as the "kit"

Just waiting for the bloody painter to send me the tins back so I can get em on the bike!

Looking forward to posting some pics soon.

Cheers

P Daddy

Thanks, that's about what I thought, but wanted to check. From what I've read a 180 will fit in the swingarm of an '03 if the frame horns are cut off. I believe a 200 will fit as well, but might need a change from belt to chain or a change in belt size. Reading what the "kit" that custom struts (www.customstruts.com) does for you, it sounds like switching to the 3/4 inch belt from the '06 and later softail would allow a 200 (still with frame horns cut off). Not sure exactly which road I'll go, I just know all the kits seem to be a little pricey. I have to say that the Heartland kits do look good. I like my c&c seat though, and don't want to have to go with their seat since mine is perfectly fine.

You can put a 180 or 200 on the stock swingarm, Using a 1-1/8" belt if you buy the Right wheel that has an off set in it, move the tire over JUST enough to get the 200 on the bike. I know the the 180 kit from Heartland is a 8.5 fender and a 200 is VERY close.
They are coming out with a 200 kit for the older bikes that has 9.25 fender, you will have to cut the Steel frame horns off and use the correct wheel.
