Im thinking about cutting the strut mounts off my 2007 fxst and putting a rear fender on with internal struts. Has anyone done this, any suggestions on fenders and such. Dont want to spend a ton of money on a fender but looking for options.
How much do you want to spend for fender, struts, and a seat? Lots of options out there, but cost is definitely a factor. I ended up just getting the ez200 heartland kit for 1260 shipped. It's bolt-on and you don't have to cut the frame struts. What makes it nice too is the span-on 2up piece and knowing my frame struts are still there to support the weight.
RSD sells fender and struts, but not the seat. They have a seat that is nice looking, but made to fit their tank as well. I believe Milwaukee sells some cheaper fenders as well with built-in struts.
I like the heartland kit, but it is just so expensive, May just have to suck it up.
You I thought the same thing until another member found it for 1260 shipped on ebay last week. I bought it immediately. You might be able to catch another one from Las Vegas Harley or call them and ask.

Well it fits, but it's made for the RSD tank, which is longer. They said it will be ugly with stock tank because the bolt below the tank is exposed. I guess the seat isn't long enough?
RSD Fender/struts/seat cost over a 1k. you'll need to cut the frame struts and maybe even a square where the ecm goes, I can't remember.
Why not just get this and it's all bolt-on, here's the kit I bought and he has 1 left:
Seriously for that price..... That is so cheap for the amount of quality you get. You say its just a seat, fenders, and some struts but the ability to just bolt it on and have two up capabilities is nice to have. Nobody will ever be able to get it cheaper than me though.... I got it from Vegas also but for $1000 with shipping.

I know, you lucky bastard Saints! Mine arrives Friday and I have next week off work, so hopefully I can get it all done including fabricating a thin brake light on the end of the fender. The cheapest I've seen it before this is 1600 plus shipping which was too rich for my blood.
Heartland are good people too, they're letting me exchange the fender and struts for the shorter version and wrinkle black ones. Can't wait!
My only dilemma is going with an 18" or 17" rear rim. 18" is cool, but I don't like the skinny tire profile from the side even though it shows a bit more wheel. I feel a 17" keeps the thicker tire view from the side and I can go 210 for just a tad fatter rear view IMO.
