Yeah, the chrome sliders make the look of the Fatty. I kick myself for not doing it when I bought the bike, could have had 'er done right then. Crap.... Oh well.
I am still waiting for my heads to come back from Baisley's in Portland, so.... while the bike is in the shop..... here we go, lets just add some more goodies LOL.
But thanks for the e-bay links i will check them out 'cause I think the chrome front is kick ***.
Those are cool. I am not all that sure I need a "super" front end on a Harley. I mostly wanted to limit the amount of dip I would get when stopping. Hitting the front brake would cause the the bike to dip and effect the balance. The heavier fork oil solved the issue for me.
The chrome front end does make a fatboy pop.
I saw a thread awhile back, lots of guys would change the 07 sliders out for 08 sliders, to correct something. Have you searched for the reasons why?
Try changing the fork oil first and see how you like the difference. This is the least expensive and fastest change. I did this to my bike and there is a big change in the handling of the bike. If you don't like the difference, you are only out about $20, and can go back to the original fork oil.
this is from the 06 softail manual should be the same since it is the same frontend
12.9 OZ,

and discard the drain screws and washers from
each fork and drain the fork oil.
4.

(blue) to drain screws and tighten to 12-18 inIbs
(1.4-2.0
Nm).
b. All models except FXSTD. tighten drain screws to
52-78 in-Ibs (5.9-8.9 Nm).
5. Refer to Table 1-7. Fill the fork with Harley-Davidson
TYPE E FORK OIL (Part No. HD-99884-80).
6. Tighten fork tube caps to 40-60 ft-Ibs (54.2-81.3 Nm).
Per tube/side so you will need 25.8 oz total= two bottles from the dealer. I have a syringe from walmart to fill batteries with. it measures 2 OZs at a time. I measured with it and with a mark ont he bottle to get the .9 part.
one more quick question, the directions say to remove the drain screws, discard and put new ones in....is that really necessary? can't the original ones be reused?

Yes, I have reused mine four times-still no leaks.
