My son put one of those on his FXSTC he told me you can replace the battery. I will ask him how when I get off work and get home this evening but I'm sure somebody will reply to this before I get home and tell you how to do it.

i took mine to a watch repair shop and paid the guy $12 (cost of new battery + labor). There are "tabs" holding down the battery, at least 2 of them must be bent up so you can slide the old one out.

You have to take it back to the dealer and pay $100 for the officially licensed "Harley Davidson Temperature Dip Stick Battery."

I had one, took it back. In my opinion it was a PIA to use. Having to push a button to get a reading. And with winter gloves, I took it back and bought the analog one. Now I just glance and I have my reading, Just my

I never liked the idea of a LED gauge and have the analog one, but I used some old yellow nail polish I found laying around (think it was a leftover from one of my son's stranger gf's) and put a small stripe on the outer chrome ring between the 230 and 250 readings. Now I can look down while I'm going and see if its anwhere near a problem without even reading the numbers.

+1 for using the analog guage. Didn't want to mess with something else that required a battery.
