Default Bar Question - And first post!!!

Okay first time posting but have been lurking for a while. Question on adding bars. I have added many bars on different bikes before and re-wired etc. However there are many deals out there selling bars with controls and wiring already installed. My question is on these newer bikes (mine is an 06 heritage) is there a way to remove the dash or tank and plug in new wires or do I still need to do the old cut solder and heat shrink method?

You can get a wiring extension kit as stated above. Just plug the wiring in and heat shrink it as opposed to soldering.

Thanks for the replies. I will check that place out. I guess my next question is this. Is there a way to disconnect the wires from under the tank to add the extensions. Maybe I am missing something. Like I said I have done this before but all older stuff.

Yes! Take the tank off, or move it back to gain access to the wiring, then you will have to disconnect the molex/deutsch connector and take all the wires out of it then add new wire extensions, heat shrink them together, then put the connctors back together and you are good to go.

Great. Sounds like a snap. Thanks. Of course I could look at my shop manual but I am lazy.

Just to be safe. I would remove tank. The wiring has to be tucked under the tank so that it does not touch the engine...etc... Since you have a manual, read the instructions on removing the tank and do it the proper way. There is very little room to move things around without moving the tank.........

No need to remove just take the tank loose an block it up.
Be carefull not to damage the cross over tube.
