Can anyone recommend a good way to lock up a Fatboy while on the road?
I am going on a road trip next month and I would like a little more security while sleeping.
I don't think brake locks are all that effective I would like a cable or chain to lock around a pole or tree but with the solids I am not quite sure how?
Looking for ideas...
Pt the cable or chain thru the FRAME. Best place is probably right behind the front downtubes. I used to lock mine up that way..and still lock the wifes Deluxe to my Ultra thru that part of the frames on both bikes. Just make sure you use a covered chain or cable to avoid scratches.
Heavy gauge hex chain thru frame to a fixed object with no slack so it's far away from the ground. Makes it harder for the low-life's to work on the lock or chain when it's off the ground. Always leave in well lit areas. Insure her well because if they want it bad enough they will get it. I personally like the Ongaurd Beast 14mm hex chain and lock set.

It doesnt matter if you use a chain or a padlock threw the brake rotor, if they want your bike they are gonna take it. Just hope there is easier prey else where.
I use a Disc lock, I figure its harder to reach it with a Torch, Bolt Cutter or a Saw , they'll have to carry the whole thing away (which they do also), just remember to remove it before you try to drive away.
Frame is the most secure place to lock it but in a pinch around the floorboard brackets works too. If you are traveling with others, lock multiple bikes together daisy chain style, or just roll it into the room. Cover it with a Honda cover. I don't cover mine on trips as I don't like to waste space with a cover but I know a lot of people who do. As far as type of lock, get a cable lock (something light). I use a Kryptonite New York lock at home but it weighs a ton so I take a cable lock and lock it togehter with the handcuffs I use to lock my helmet with. So far it has worked like a charm.
