Default Stupid Noob question

Just received my Hooker Rebel Darksides. Couldn't pass them up at $190 shipped. Anyhow, I was thinking about wrapping them with some heat wrap for that old-school look. Opened them up as soon as they got here, and you can't remove the heatshields. Has anyone wrapped their pipes over the heatsheilds? Not sure if it's gonna look right after I'm done. Don't want to waste the money on the wrap. Yea, I'm going more for the look than performance.

In my opinion the pipes will look really fat. I had a set of sampsons that I wrapped (without the heat shields and they looked really big). I currently have a set of drag pipes 1 3/4" that I wrapped since they didn't come with heat shields and I get the advantage of heat protection and the looks. Up to you whether you want to wrap them with shields on. There is a calculation to use depending upon pipe diameter and number of bends how much wrap you will require.
