Default Exhaust wrap removal

I bought my cross bones with heat wrap already installed on the vance and hines pipes.

I never had a bike with heat wrap on it. I really dont like the look of it and would like to take it off...
So my question is:
If I take it off will the pipes have the smae finish on them as the parts that dont have the wrap? Or will the wrap Have discolored or stick to the pipes?
I dont want to start taking it off if the wrap has ruined the finish on the pipes....
I would wrather just put on a boot guard instead of the ugly wrap...
Thanks
Greg

The heat wrap scratch the finish of the chrome BUT if they only wrapped where the heat shields cover than you can just put the heat shields on and no one will be the wiser.

To remove the wrap cut off the steel tie wire (do it on the back of the pipes with snips) or remove whatever they used to keep it fastened to the exhaust. I'd recommend doing it outside with long sleeves and gloves on because wrap is made with fiberglass and it's gonna fly everywhere and get on you and whoever's standing near you.

I just looked at your pictures. The heat shields for those pipes starts at the head and goes all the way to the end of the pipe. If you don't want the pipes wrapped just order a new set of heat shields, (black or chrome) take the old shields off and put the new ones on.

Ive never had a bike with black heat sheilds on it.. SO what you are telling me is that the wole black part of this will slide off and expose regular chrome pipes underneath???
What are the black heat sheilds made out of? Your telling me they are one big tube that slides on? How are they able to take those bends? How do they stay on there without sliding off
I feel like an idiot, I have really never paid attenion to pipes before, All the ones I ever put on bikes were just straight chrome pipes with maybe a small heat sheild made out of chrome attached, I just assumed that these were chrome pipes with some kind of black coating on them...
SO If I just take off the wrap do you think the black heat sheilds will look ok? or do you think they will be scrathed up?
