Default Just Pipes?

OK, I can't take the stock pipes anymore!!! I have owned an 09 Fatboy for two weeks and I need pipes! So, here is my question: First, I have read most of the threads concerning this subject, but I need to know for sure...Can I just put pipes(most likely Bub Jug Huggers) on and not do anything with Fuel Mangement? I do not want to run too lean or ruin my bike. I plan to add an iar kit and FM sometime down the road. If you have an opinion/knowledge on this, please chime in.
Thanks

I ran into the same issue. Ended up going with the D&D Fat Cat exhaust. Didn't change anything else. No backfire on decel. I did notice a bit more torque simply from knowing where I was shifting into 6th gear before and after. According to analog temp guage in oil tank I only run around 200 degrees as well. I say definately go for it.

I just put slip-ons on mine. Believe me, they sound way better than stock pipes. I will get the air cleaner and stage 1 upgrade next week. This is probably the cheapest way to get the sound you like. You can do just the slip-ons without the stage 1, but there will be no performance enhancement. The fact is you have many many options. It comes down to how much money you want to spend. Slip-ons are the cheap route.

Don't quote me on this, but, I don't think you need any fuel managment system unless you change your intake.
even if you do, install a fuel pac, they're not to expensive.

I've been running my 09 Heritage with just new slip ons for about 4 months now and I've had no issues. No fuel pack, no Stage 1, just the Slip ons.

I don't really expect performance enhancement, I just want to hear/know when it is time to shift!!! Plus the sound will be way better.
I thought about slip ons, but I am not crazy about the passenger footpeg being below the top pipe...poor design on HD's part.

if you are just running pipes and a K&N and do not plan on going further in performance mods you will be fine. If you want to cool things down some go with a XiED. They are great and keep things from running to lean.

The rule of thumb for pipes is that if you are changing the air filter, you need fuel management. If you are just adding pipes you should be fine.
