Default Decisions decisions...

So I was thinking about a jockey shift but I have decided that with the type of riding I do it would hinder me. Heavy city traffic combined with my desire to fly through the canyons has me set on keeping the setup I have now. If I had a second bike then this would for sure be an option though. My bike is my main transportation, and as I was splitting lanes down the freeway yesterday I realized it would be a real bitch to have a jockey shift in a situation like that.

Since I changed the cams I have decided I want a Dyno tune to take advantage of the new found power the bike has. I'd like to do a full engine build as well, but that is not in the cards right now, so I am getting some BCT baffles(hopefully they won't ruin my deceleration sound) and then I am getting a Dyno tune form someone who has come highly recommended by another forum member. I am not getting the $100 Dyno.

And just as I thought, someone else told me my bike sounded like it was a carbed bike with the new cam idle. Thought I was crazy for a second...but Nah!

I am still thinking about getting some longer fishtails but am still concerned that they will scrape too much as I was scraping what I have today in the canyons.

I ran into a guy with a deluxe with some 33" fishtails on his bike and they looked great. He saed they were actually 36" pipes and he had just slid them in the headers further so they were not as long. He also modded his samson bracket to mount them up which gave me some ideas. The gears are turning again...

Thats why we all need more than one bike, one we can do all sorts ofmods to and the other to ride while we mod the other. Ok maybe 3 would work better

I was thinking the same thing when you were first talking about the jockey, man thats going to be a beeyatch trying to split lanes on So Cal freeways. You are going to love that dyno tune too, my RK flat out got with the program when I dynoed it after the cam swap.

I used to have 4 bikes about 10 years back, or course none of them were Harley's, but it was nice to have a choice of what to ride. Almost one for each day of the week.

Yeah, I am sure the Dyno will be well worth while. Up until this point I have not cared about how "fast" my bike was but it seems that since it is where I wnat it cosmetically, It is time to think about different things. I still really wnt the jockey shift, but I live smack dab in the middle of the city with traffic everywhere and I don't see it working well as the bike is my main transportation. And the canyons are to much fun to flog my bike in to give that up as well. Looks like I have to start a project bike fund so I can do a jockey shift. Who has a crahsed sproty for sale real cheap? Send it my way!

I wish you had mentioned about the jockey when we were riding yesterday. Not only the thing about SoCal lane splitting, but uphill starts would be exciting too!

PM me if you are serious about the sporty. I know of a nice, low-mileage '93 w/ S&S carb and drag pipes locally for $3500.

If I had $3500 I'd do it right now Bob. It's gonna take a while to get that kind of money with my current employment situation. I could stop eating and riding though...I just got from a sporty jaunt, and that thing is still a blast to ride. It's getting a bath when it cools off.
