Looking to get a good set of slip ons for my '08 deluxe. Thinking of Rush's for good balance b/w cost and thunder. Looking for deep throat but don't want to **** the neighbors. Rather not deal with Dynos...think I dont need to from what I've read. Which baffles though??
From all the threads I've read, most people have 2.0. They come in 1.5, 1.75, 2.0, and 2.25. Rush have interchangeable baffles so if it's too loud or quiet you can change them out. I ordered a set of 2.25, but most have said they'll be too loud, so I ordered a set of 2.0 baffles just to be safe.
1.75s plenty loud imo and according to Rush, V&H, and many others it's the largest you can go to w/o a remap or FM. As I recall Georgiagirl here put some 2.0s on her Deluxe and had some issues requiring her to add a FM.
Just for reference paid about $240 shipped last year from cyclespot. Don't know if they still sell them or not. Fuel Moto (sponsor) may be worth getting a price from, especially if you have any future plans to go the full stage 1 route.

Amen. Has a nice tone until you crank it on, then you'll wake the neighbors.
I have the 1.75 and some of the neighbors commented on them when I leave at 5:30 a.m.; but then they have cars with good exhausts so I comment back and we are all OK. I would not want anything louder.
Any running fuel management with the pipes too...is it necessary?? Starting to read that all of our late model stock bikes running too lean out of the factory.... shortening their lives and running less efficiently. Too much invested already to let it burn itself up!

I read an article in American Iron a while back that basically said that given Harleys latest smart ECM, that they didn't believe that a fuel management system was required if the only mods were a slip-on style muffler and a mild change to the intake.
I'm running Rush 1.75's, a K&N replacement filter, and also installed the Xied's as a form of cheap insurance. I listen to the motor (no pre-ignition that I can detect over the normal noises), and watch my plugs like a hawk. Bike has about 13,000 miles on the clock and runs sweet.
Now, when I do the 103" upgrade with cam, I'm in a different ballgame.
