Default Seats?

This is a question that goes out to the experienced riders. I have the 2009 FLSTC and well we all know that seats can be good or really bad. I think mine is pretty good for some short trips. Not sure about long trips. but my wife isn't to happy about hers in the passenger seat? what would you guys recommend for us. Anything we can do to spare our Butt's.

We went through the same thing on our 07. I got her the HD touring pillion seat, back rest, and floorboards. These changes are a HUGE improvements over the stockers as the new seat is about 3" wider and 1 1/2 thicker and the backrest is curved and about 3" wider and taller also.
Now she can easily ride 3-4hr straight through depending on how rough the roads are.

Then I took the stock pillion seat and cut it down and had a local trim shop cover it to make a back rest/rear finder bib for me when I ride alone/solo. its not a seat and will never be sat on or used for a passenger riding.

As far as the stock front seat, I like it and have left it on. it even gets better after some miles. It just fits my butt fine, the most I've rode in one day was about 8hrs and no problems with it..

Heere's some thembnails of the rear seat and pad I got for the wife. Plus they really look good with the rest of the bike.
Also the stock seat that I cut down and made the solo backrest and fender cover for me.

I have an 08 Heritage and bought the Mustang 17.5" seat w/backrest and 14" pillion. Not real impressed with the seat compared with the stock seat which I was basically happy with anyway but the pillion is 1000 times better according to the wife.

Not sure but I think you can buy the Mustang pillion as a separate item.

i have the same and you can buy the pinion separate but it only fits the mustang seat. the 17.5 was way better then the stock on a long trip. i have about 28000 miles on my seat and got it used from the hd forums

Not so sure about this. I know the HD pillion doesn't work with the Mustang seat but I'm fairly sure it works vice versa.

My memory isn't what it used to be but as I recall I tried mine that way and it worked. And at the place where I bought mine there was a guy with a Heritage having just a pillion put on. Matter of fact the wife tried it out before we decided to get one. Least that's how I recall it.

Do I want to put money on my memory. Hell no.
