I stay in fourth until 50. Mine doesnt surge and it stays above two thousand RPM. At two thousand RPM my deuce does fifty MPH in fifth.

I would think it wouldnt lug at two grand.

I usually hit 5th somewhere above 50 or 55 too. Just seems right, sounds right, feels right, must be right.

My deluxe can putt along just fine in 5th @ 35 - 40 mph.

There is a conversion rpm -> speed in the manual for 3000 rpm the dealer showed me for break-in
I think 4/5 was 57 mph.

It all depends on what I'm doing but run 50 to 57 before shifting to 5th (sounds and feels right).

That sounds pretty good , but I`m going to have to check myself today. I really don`t look at the speedo unless theres a officer behind me with the lights on . Ride safe and keep your eyes on the road !

well i don`t hit 5th until i`m over 100.. i ride by feel and sound. i have tryed to sift into 6th and 7th lots becuase of the sound..lol but ya not untill 100 do i **** into 5th.. but i am canadian eh so thats 100km. wich is about 60mph

Same here, about 55-57 mph sometimes around 60mph.

thanks for all of the responses-I too shift around 55 but when the mechanic told me 70 I was in shock! I will continue to shift where it
feels right!
