Default Big Radius Baffles Question

Whats up guys, Im new here. I just bought my first harley. Its a 2005 night train. It has 1900 miles on it and when the guy bought it new he had the V&H BR 2/2 pipes installed. My question is I dont know if he had the stage 1 done or if would have had to have it done. The bike runs great no popping, I Havent checked the plugs. But I want it louder Im used to my quads and my car. I could be standing corrected once I try it without them and then Ill try the Big City baffles. But my question is with my bike stock everything and the BR's installed and no baffles or the Big City's do I need to be tuned? Or is there enough room on the stock map with out it. I would imagine I would definitly need a tune after intake is installed. But what about now? Thanks guys.

If you have the stock Air Filter system, no you do not need a stage 1 download or other fuel management system. Think of it as an air compressor, you can only put out as much air as you are taking in, thus with a stock filter everything is the same regardless of the exhaust with or without baffles.
The next part is stage 1 download vs fuel management system such as PCV or Fuel Pak, I would not do the stage 1 download.
Call the dealer where the bike was purchased new, ask if they did a stage 1 download.
Most will disagree with this statement, when you do the fuel management system canned maps are fine for just and air filter upgrade and exhaust. Fuel moto seems to be most peoples choice on here.
Welcome to the forum.

Rip the baffles out, you wont regret it. Its a little louder and I had increased MPG by doing so for some reason. I use a fuelpak and have the V&H Vo2 cleaner - just re-mapped the Fuelpak and thats it. I really didnt like the fuelpak but because I havent done any motor upgrades yet...it works just fine as stated by tlb.

awesome, just wanted to make sure i was goin to lean out, i didnt think it would, but i dont know really how restrictive the stock pipes are. I ll finish takeing the baffles out tom. and then hopefully in a few weeks ill do intake and a tune/management. I do have to run down to the dealer so ill ask them to look up the bike and see for me what the dude exactly had done. thanks guys.

Keep in mind that I do have a fuel management (fuelpak) and an air intake.....but I dont see why taking baffles out of a stock set up would make you go lean.

Your bike was made before they started using O2 sensors. So your pipes don't have the bungs in them for the sensors.
Without the bungs the PCV with its wide band O2 sensors isn't going to be as easy to install as the older PCIII that doesn't use them.
If you go to the Power Commander web site it doesn't even list the PCV when you put a 2005 bike in it.
It only lists the PCIII.
The Fuelpac is very similar in function to the PCIII, but on balance the PCIII is probably a little better because it has more maps and a better support network. Many dealers have dynos that can be directly hooked up to the PCIII so it can do updates on the fly to save you time, and money.

+1
If you are eventually do some engine mods, I would go with a thundermax, but that is $$$$.
Used I would get the PCIII new I would go with the PCV.
If you decide to have the bungs welded in to use a PCV w/autotune or thundermax, remove the pipes and heat shields and take them to a regular car muffler shop. It will cost you 1/4 what an indy or dealer would charge to install bungs. Just find a set with bungs installed take a few pictures paying attention to the location and angle of the bungs.
