Default question regarding hand levers???

sorry for the dumb question. I just purchased black hand levers to replace my stock setup. It looks like a very easy install. I'm I correct for saying that, or is there something i should know regarding the install?? thanks for you input.

Greetings,

Nope...No tricks or anything at all...Just loosen up the clutch cable a bit and adjust it back when you're done. It's pretty straight-forward.

screamn eagle- your funny. My problem is that I do stuff way to fast and before I know it ...I f'd it up and then spend the next few hours or days unscrewing something that I did not even plan on ...lol. But hey....at least it makes you more careful the next time. Wife keeps bitching too (just thought I would throw that in there)

It is a very easy install... as long as you have a set of snap-ring pliers.

Or you can take a small pair of needle nose pliers, and spread the ring apart a little bit, then slide the pin up. That's what I ended up doing on mine, when I changed out the clutch cable. I had a pair of snap-ring pliers, but they were too big for those little rings. Plus, it doesn't stretch the rings, so you can reuse them. Just a thought.

If I'm not mistaken...isn't there some sort of "clip" on the front brake lever which helps activate the brake lights? If so, you need to be aware of it...been a while since I changed my levers.

make sure you have the right model and year.. there is a small tab on the older models that wont fit the newer bikes. There are a few small details that you should know about. Get the small ring pliers to avoid any wasted time. Be careful when putting on the brake side with the switch inside the housing , the Manual recomends using a piece of cardboard to not damage the seal. And lastly the clutch side. the adjustment is inside the rubber boot near the steering. Loosen it up and it should give you enough slack to pull on the lever and cable. The new levers should bring some instructions incase you dont have a manual. Good Luck !! just take your time. And remember. Install time is based on what it takes a Certified Harley mechanic to install. Not someone doing it for the first time. After doing it a few times , you will do it in 30 minutes also.
