Was considering chopping in my 06 Softail Standard for a new Night Train as they are being "discontinued" over here in the UK(why??) but as the local Stealers seem intent on shafting me with their ridiculous deals I though I may as well just change my bike into a Train, not bothered about all the paint/powder coat and cosmetics etc but how easy is it to re-paint the motor black instead of my stock silver,I'm fully prepared to pull the motor and trans out to do it properly, but do I have to remove all the silver or is there a paint I can just fire over the top and that will stick?
Yeah but that would involve stripping the whole motor and re-building it and thats outa my league and cost prohibitive plus she's only got 2000mls on so don't really want to start tearing the motor apart, could pay a shop to do it but then I may as well take the stealers offer?
I was also considering getting my wheels PC'd. I have that profile 21" front with the constant radius around it instead of being stepped like a lot of them, and a solid rear dish. Not sure how that would look, may look pretty bad ***.
Walk into the dealer and tell the salesguy....Hey I'll Chop with you Mate if you get the numbers right?
Hmmm....
Let me go out to the car and get me checkbook outta the boot!!
Ha,Ha yeah summat like that,we got all kinds of different names for stuff,it has my mate(buddy) in stitches(laughing) when we come over,he always says "teach me some of that funny English sh*t",have to say his English accent is probably one of the worst I've heard!
We do say "trading in" as well although that's more a car(automotive) dealers expression, don't even get me started on "Estate agents" they sell houses...real estate? They're a breed apart.
Only thing that seems pretty universal whichever side of the pond you are on is when you sell to a dealer you get bottom price but when you buy you pay top price....dollars or pounds!
Think you got it bad?....Petrol(gas) is close to $8.00 a gallon although here they like to quote price per litre to make it sound less...like we're that stupid!

Back to the thread, did Naz Man remove the grey paint or just paint over it? Naz Man you out there bro?my motors pretty mint so I reckon it should be fine to paint over, what I don't want is 6 months down the road finding big patches of black engine paint flaking off!
i've thought about doing this as well. i am just nervous about how well it will hold up with all the heat. i am not really sure i have the b@lls to put a spray can to the motor of my bike.
putting a grinder to my rear brake caliper was hard enough...
