I have a 2001 softail standard and I am gonna add some pipes. My ques is, I know I have to have the dealership download the necessary things in the engine, but I am trying to limit the amount of money I am gonna spend. Therefore can I buy the air filter on line and put it on myself? And I am assuming a K&N air filter is the way to go.
Really D/L first then pipes and A/C? The guy at my local dealer said I could install pipes and A/C then get D/L.
Anyway, I'm seriously looking at the Samson Big Guns 3 Cannons, and the SEAC. I'm considering the SERT but it's pricey. I understand you're the SERT guy, so I suppose you recommend it?
If I go with the SEAC and D/L, will I need to change the D/L when I go to the K&N? For that matter will I have to change the SERT program when I switch to the K&N?
put a complete k&n filter and new backplate on my train (rk3909 is the part number). kit includes everything but the cover (it's made to work with the stock cover). it runs about $130 at most places online. just swapping out the filter element for a k&n is even simpler and cheaper - $70 or so i think.
