Default rocker VS

Hello everyone, joined up here to research the rockers. I was really set on getting one this winter. I still like them and think that is my choice but there are some questions creeping into my mind.

mainly... Big Dog, I went out to a BBQ today and saw two Big Dogs and really liked the look of one of them. My question is, do any of you have any opinions on them? Likes Dislikes, just anything you can tell me.

Greetings,

I had a 2008 Rocker C and before I bought it I was leaning very heavily toward a K9. Do your research before buying and definitely don't buy a new one! They don't hold their resale value and they've had a few major issues the last couple of years. You'd be better off to get the Rocker and mod it to the way you want. You can easily do a side-mount plate, drag bars, and different seat to get the look.

Thanks Jason! I knew I could mod the rocker to get what i wanted, just didn't know if it was better to do that or to buy it already the way i want it.

If i bought a BD, it would be used for sure. The rocker I am unsure of now, but I am leaning towards used on it also. That way i can spend the same money and get some mods.

Good Point about resale and holding value. That's enough to sway me to stick with my original choice.

I would stick with HD and take it from there. Im very pleased with my Rocker C. Harley Davidson's got a soul while others might look impressive its just not a Harley. Also, expectation management- IMO, understand with the Rocker your not riding a surround sound speaker system with luggage rack and such....you can press a few hundo miles a day (max Ive done is 550) but anymore and you may not get up the next morning.

One of the local dealers (that I won't name) sells Harley & big Dog. Talking to the sales manager that I'm friendly with theytook me aside and told me to stay away from the BD. Said quality was not that great and everyone they sold has had problems.

Greetings,

I needed a bike that held two people a little more comfortably and I liked the look of the new Wide Glide. I had never owned a Dyna before (all 3 previous Harleys were Softails) and I have to say I'm not sure if I'll go back now.

I was thinking about the same thing. I ran across a Rocker at a Harley Dealer in Minn when we were visiting my in-laws last spring. They were brand new. I rode my friend's Big Dog, and it rides awesome. I am on the fence between the two, but when I think about maintenece, I lean towards HD. I mean for regular stuff, I can schedule a trip 3 hours north to the Big Dog dealer, but if I break down or something goes wrong, there's a HD dealer/shop within 30 minutes of everywhere.

This is exactly why I chose the Rocker when I was buying last year.. I was looking at a Victory just for something different but the closest dealer is 1.5 hrs away and there aren't nearly as many in the country as there are HD dealers.. I would think the same line of thought would play in when buying a BD as well..
