i'd rather they was black than chrome.
can't i just take them off and have somebody make them black?

you can paint them with some high temp black. the stuff they make to use on bbqs works best. just get some sand paper and scuff them up relly good then apply many light layers of flat black. take your time. dont try to make it all black in the first quote of paint. put a little on then let dry. put a little more. if it takes you 15 quotes thats fine but one run in the paint will make it look like crap.

read somewhere yesterday bout an etching primer. if U could get some that might make it stick even better...

This is the best option, but most costly as well. BBQ paint with self etching rpimer under should work well. PM JRK5892 and he can help with the primer.

High temp BBQ paint from lowes or home depot works just great and is cheap to touch up. Just take off the heat shields and paint them up, get black slip ons and your done on the cheap. I added Bassani roadrage 2 into 1 pipes on my bike, black with black heat shields. They are very slightly lower volume than the thunderheader and I don't like exhaust wrap.
