i have a 06 springer fuel injected with a staock air cleaner and stock pipes and it seems to surge when running at a constant speed, its mosr noticable in town in first gear, has anyone else had this problem?
how many Miles? I just noticed mine doing that this past weekend. About 1600 Miles. I thought it might be because I removed the Baffles out of my Screaming eagle pipes but I guess thats not it. I have had the baffles out for about a month now.
My Springer is an 05 and I haven't noticed that problem. If I was you, I would take it back to the dealership and ask them what they think, that's what they are there for. Good luck.
Harley-Davidson issued a service bulletin regarding fuel injector issues on the '06 bikes. I suspect you are running the 8* injectors that are the cause of hard starting, stalling, and coughing. Take the bike back to the dealer and explain your symptoms. Ask them to install the 25* injectors and remap the fuel system as required by the service bulletin.
For more information, do a search of 8 degree injectors on this forum. There is a wealth of information and testimonials from people experiencing your problem and correcting it.
I have an '06 FLSTCI with similar problems. The last straw was when it stalled in the middle of an intersection and did not want to restart. I had the 25* injectors installed and the fuel system remapped. Problem solved!
i also had my inj changed out to the new 25*. but it was a battle from the start with my dealer. i finally had to call HD and get them involved to get the job done. still not perfect, due to my dealer won't do a new dyno run to dial in my SERT, they want me to pay the $280 for that.....I guess you have to tell yourself its a harley and they will spitt and sputter @ times!
I've not seen this problem with my 06 Springer, but I just turned 500 miles. I'll keep an eye out, but I seldom am in first unless I'm moving from a stop or traffic really got slow.
I have an 06 Springer with the 8* injectors...stage one, When I put the PC 111 on it, it ran alot better. Mine will serge at the bottom side of 2ed gear after I down shift..Ima just living with it, I can't get off of it long enough to have them fix it [6700 mi.]
Geoseismic has it right...do a search!!! lots of info on this subject.
I have a 06 Night Train that have the very same symptoms...
as stated before...the problem is with the injectors that should be replaced for the ones of 25 degrees.
Harley is performing the change on the basis of "having the problem"...so if you do have the problem you should contact your stealer and have the service done without any cost.
Mine hasn't been replaced...but the injectors are already at the dealer waiting for me....
