When you say you have the HD tuner do you mean the SERT or did you just get a Stage 1 dowload? Also, don't know if you run it or not but synthetic oil will cool the bike down a little do to less friction of moving parts.

Do you have heat shields on your duals?. If not, that and the fact that your leg is next to the left pipe could make it "feel" hotter.
I doubt you'll notice any significant difference in temps by switching to syn. Wife and I have identical year 96Bs, one with syn, one w/o and they run same oil temp +- about 3 degrees. But give it a shot.
