Harley has a tool for about $20 that will adjust the softail and dyna shocks.

I think he is talking about one to loosen the nut so you can adjust them. It is a big wrench is all I remember.

Got it. Went to dealer 12.00 bucks. It looks like a 1 inch wrench to loosen jam nut.

My dealer adjusted the rear shocks on my '09 Heritage for no charge; they are set at softest setting and the ride is more comfortable now... no hard bumps, and we don't bottom out either. I'm 230 lbs. and wife is 130; I put 40 psi in the rear tire when she's on board, and drop it back down to 36 psi when solo. Rides perfect for us now, much smoother, less bumpy. I give my dealer credit, he believes in helping his customers with the little things in his effort to build good relationships (for the bigger bucks down the road!).

I believe the actual size is metric - either 26 or 28 as I recall.
