Question Easy to Install????? primary, cam, transmission covers???

I just purchased a 2010 Crossbones, and pick her up next week sometime.
Have exhaust and a bunch of parts already to install.

Question is:
How easy is it to install new wrinkle black Primary cover, Cam Cover, and transmission covers???
Im trying to Black out the motor with HD parts but dont plan on doing the valve covers.
Ive been a mechanic for the last 6 years for the military, and Im still waiting for my service manual to arrive.

thanks for any help

It is pretty easy. Just take the bolts out and switch. You will need new gaskets and a torque wrench. The manual gives you all the torque values and tightening sequence.

Pretty easy to change out, to change the primary cover you will have to have the bike jacked up because you have to take the bolts out of the kickstand and swing it out of the way to get out one or two of the primary bolts all the way out. The cam is easy to change if you remove the exchausts so you can get to lower bolts on it, but it can be done with them inplace you will need some different length torx bits to make it easier, tranny cover I havent done yet on my x bones, by the way do you have a good powder coater around, just give him the parts and he can match it up to the wrinkle black, thats what I did. heres some of the pics of parts I had powered coated if you want to look. http://s255.photobucket.com/albums/h...cs/Powdercoat/

BTL-
about how much and how long did it take to get the parts back from the coater???? I plan on removing/installing the parts with my floor boards and exhaust off the bike.
I was hoping it was roughly that easy, ill make sure to follow the manual and do all the torques sequences.
thanks

If you are already a mechanic, you will be fine.

Toy Jon, I had a talk with the guy doing the powder coating before I removed anything and kind of made an appointment with him to make sure he could do it fast and was'nt backed up at his shop, if i remember right it was a total of 3 days to get the parts back, and the price for the powder coating was around 130 bucks, give or take 20 bucks I dont remember exactly it was last year. The extra cost in the project is going to be new fluids for your primary and tranny which no big deal this way your good to go for summer, and new gaskets which aint to bad except harley hit me up for like 32 or 36 bucks for the primary gasket (ouch) cam cover gasket was like 7 bucks or something, I changed out my derby cover for a wrinkle black with fins on it and had to purchace a paper gasket for it, instead of the rubber one thats on the bike now.

Toy Jon, your welcome, as far as the powered coater, you might want to ask around your local harley shop or your buddies and see if anyone recomends him, thats what I did and everybody I talk too gave him a big thumbs up.
