Default Installing pipes

Just curious what you guys have heard, I just bought the SE 2's and the place I got em from said I didn't have to do any of the upgrades on my carb. Said I could just put on my slip ons and everything would be good.

The dealer said I needed the stage I and carburator re-map, but everywhere else says that the dealer is just tryin to get me to buy parts.

any tips?

my bike is an efi

I would say if your looking for sound no but if you want performance yes. The slip-ons could also make it run lean

On my 05 EFI softail, The dealer told me no remapping unless I changed the air intake. I put the SEII's on myself, bike runs beautiful, no popping. I asked if it would void the warrentee, he said absolutly not, they have never seen a problem in an engine due to slip-ons.

P.S. They sound awsome, you'll love it.

It was a little tough getting the old ones to slip off, I actually removed them from the crossover tube, despite the directions saying to remove them together. It was tough enough getting them off one at a time, let alone trying to do them both together. I loosened the heat shields, did not remove them. I monted the seII's like they said and they just slipped on easy as pie. Re-used the clamps, and was good to go. MAKE SURE you clean the pipes and mufflers before you start it, I used windex with amonia, or any finger prints you left on the pipes will be burned in permanent!! Good luck, it's not that bad.

i asked this question a few times and I was told even by just putting on the slip ons i would have to do remap

You change the backpressure with the SE slipon and this means remap of the EFI, it will act up on you at low idle. As they say been there, got the t-shirt.

I have had no problems and have now asked all four local dealers about this, including a mechanic buddy of mine, all say the same thing, no need for slipons with baffles useing the crossover tube, unless you change air intake. Now who am I going to believe?

I just installed Big Shot Longs on my 05' EFI Heritage, also a Big Sucker air cleaner. Along with it I purchased a DFO (digital fuel optimizer) to re-map the EFI. Installed the pipes and air cleaner, ran the bike without the DFO. IT ran fantastik! Put about 200 miles on it, then decided I better install the DFO. Fairly easy install, adjusted it according to instructions, (very little adjustment from stock), no apparent difference in performance with or without the DFO. Quite a bit of performance from the stock pipes & air cleaner! It did not appear to run lean at all w/out the DFO. I really don't think I needed it.

P.S. My fuel mileage went from 35ish to 45 in a heart beat!

If that 45 is after the DFO, then that should be enough to tell you that you are running more eficiently with the DFO and the extra fuel.
