I'm looking at purchasing new pipes and I talked to two different places about the tuning. The dealer told me if I ever change something later like the air cleaner I'd have to come back and have it re-tuned. A custom shop nearbye told me they would install the Power Commander Autotune which doesn't have to be retuned if a change out a part. Any thoughts or recomendations on this?
What are canned maps? and i have a similar question on this topic, i read in this months american iron that 08 and 09's because of the o2 sensors due not need remap for arlen ness big sucker, that the o2 sensors will correct it, if so i am wondering if they will correct for pipes as well, fyi i think i saw another thread on this same topic
Canned maps are what's preinstalled on the tuners. Usually submitted by other users on dynos or from the company. For instance, im not the only person in this world with a 96ci motor with Big Radius pipes and HD heavy breather. I would then use a "canned map" of this setup that someone previous had submitted.
For the o2 sensors picking up changes...yes they will pick up changes but changing both the exhaust and the air cleaner is out of the computer's range to compensate. Close loop vs open loop.
Any changes that the computer compensates for will be back to the factory perameters that are set in the computer. Around 13. something, thats why people go with an aftermarket tuner to get the fuel ratio around 14.6 for a cooler running motor and more power. They will most of the time make adjustments to lean out the cruising range to get you better mileage on the highway. Contact Jamie and he will provide you with more information than you probably want to know

ya got that backwards...around 13.something is what you want to be at...~14.6-14.7 is stoichiometric ratio..which would make you run much hotter considering all of the gas is getting burnt up. The lower the number the more gas is left over to cool the engine
Just chaged my stock football breather for a Roland Sands Design Venturi 5 and bought the PCV from Fuel Moto USA. Intstalled both of them, started her up , and rode. Easy to do and runs great.
