How do I remove sissy bar brackets?
Hello everyone. I'm a newbie and I'm trying to remove the sissy bar sideplates from a 1992 Fatboy. I got the two front bolts unscrewed but was unsure how to release the rear portion of the sideplates. It looks like they are just hooked over the rear turn signals, but I can't seem to get it to budge. Do I have to remove the whole turn signal? (I sure hope not) Any advice is appreciated.

If you go to the HD Accessories part of the website you can download the PDF file on how to install the sideplates. Guess taking them off would be a reverse procedure.
CLICK HERE for the link to the 1992 Fatboy Rigid Mount Sideplates.
You will see the "Download Instruction Sheet" under the grey bar "add to wishlist"
Hope this helps!

If they really are just hooked over the mounting bolts you can usually tell by looking at the bottom of them.
There will be about a 1/2" gap in the plate just below the mounting bolt for the turn signal.
Then you just need to loosen them and the bracket should lift up.
The front may need to have the bolt removed or if its also slotted its probably offset to the front of the bolt about 1/2 to 3/4".
That way you have to lift it up at the rear then pull it backwards the 1/2 to 3/4" before lifting it up off the bolt.
They do it that way so its more or less locked into position, even if the bolts come loose the bracket/sissybar can't tip backwards, possibly endangering anyone leaning on it.
Hope that helps.

Thanks guys. I finally figured it out. I had to actually loosen up the turn signal mounts all the way in order to slip the sideplate opening over the signal wiring. Basically, dismount the turn signals which I didn't want to do. Haha.
Rakthi, thanks for that link. I wasnt aware that the HD website had those model specific/accessory specific mounting instructions. Good info to have for future mods. Gracias.
