Default A tragic reminder.

This is a tragic reminder to always be aware of what's going on around you. ALWAYS watch your mirrors and have an escape route at every stop light.

Keep these families in your thoughts and prayers.

I am glad the truck driver got his papers shuffled.

You can do plenty. Always be aware of your surroundings and be ready to move. Leave room for escape routes. These happen more than they should and people don't have to just sit there and be run over. Easy to be distracted

I knew couple of people who got killed that way. One right in front of his house. My son just completed the rider course in the fall and they don't teach them about this.If I'm alone I stop to the left of any vehicles in front of me ,leave it in gear and watch my mirrors(I aim for the left so that I can shoot down the yellow line if I need to get away.Ive had to do it a few times over the years and it has saved my a$$)Heading for the shoulder is obviously the second option but seems riskier as most drivers who are in a panic skid head for the gutter.Sitting at a stop in neutral leaves you no shot at getting away from a motorized missile. Just sayin.

There's plenty you can do when you're stopped - like not remaining stopped and movin' your *** when you spot some d!ck getting ready to climb up your azz.

That's crazy and sucks!! Condolences sent!!

+1 with train!! You can do all you can, but sometimes there is just no out. Or you may look away for that split second it happens. I mean you're rollin 8 deep, not to many places to go. Car in front of the group, if you saw it you can pull out in the other lane so another car can hit you or the truck realizes it and swerves and still takes you out. You can only do so much to protect yourself, but you can't fix stupid (truck driver in this case).

Thanks JoronB, I was hoping that I wasn't the only one thinking straight on here.I wonder what they would be saying standing over one of these poor guys hospital beds because I don't think it would be "theres plenty you could have done".By the way I hate to sound like a dick but like I said these posts are just rubbing me the wrong way.

I don't think his comment had anything to do with this particular tragedy. His comment and mine were directed at the the poster who simply said, " nothing you can do when you're stopped". I'm sure none of us are saying, or would ever think, those unfortunate victims should've done this or should've done that. Just a response to a guy's generally inaccurate statement about options at red lights. It's obvious by the reactions being posted here that all of us feel a sense loss for the victims and their families.
