Guys I don't think anyone is trying to be disrespectful here.Sometimes it takes something horrific like this to remind us to keep all our options open.Like I said before I lost a friend and my father lost his buddy too to rear end collisions on their bikes.Keep it in gear and pay attention til there is a long enough line behind you where your chances of getting hit are minimal.I don't think anyone in their right mind would try to place blame with the riders who got hit.
I know im new here and maybe im over stepping my boundaries, but I think it best to leave this thread as a solem reminder and a place to give our condolences and prayers to the rider's and they're families.
Perhaps a new thread on the topic of logistic's in escape routes tips on safely getting out of sticky situations could be started.
We all have different experience and oppinions on what could, should,or would happen in a similar situation but I just dont think they should be put in this thread.
My 02 cents. And I appologize if im over stepping my bounds as the new kid on the block. I just personally think that we should all take something from this tragic accident and be more aware but not let our pride and oppinions get in the way of paying respect to fellow riders who have payed the ultimate price in our passion.

I think you said it best. I took my prayers to the families and the survivors and to the group today in the faith I practice.
Just my opinion.... but I think veritas was trying make the point that SOMETIMES you can aoid a bad situation by keeping your eyes and ears open. I don't think it would apply in the particular case of the Arizona brothers and sisters who were hit by the careless, unthinking truck driver.
I did have one instance a number of years ago where I stopped in a line at a light and then heard tires sliding behind me. I didn't look or think, I popped the clutch and shot up next to the car I had been behind. Scared the bejebers outta the driver but then I pointed to the car that had stopped six inches from his back bumper.... If I hadn't moved, I woulda been a hood ornament.
I think the best we can do is offer support and prayers and thoughts for those hurt and those lost and keep riding safe.
My folks live in Phoenix and told me about this one... wow, that is SO sad.
I know the dude was shuffling his papers, but I sure hope he does some hard time for this.
When will we ban cell phones and texting while driving? It's been proven to be as dangerous as drinking and driving. I would love to see a total ban on phones in cars, as I've had too many close calls with idiots yakking on the phone.
Hey train913, read my post again, take a breath, and see that I responded to the statement "what can you do when your stopped". Christ dude, gimme a break, why would I dis the victims of such a tragedy.
