You will NOT be sorry, the Softail 'may' not be as nimble as the Sporty.
But its got so many better ride features its not funny.
Nothing agains't the Sporty's, there fine bikes, its just the bigger Softails are so much nicer. Especially if you ever want to go any distance.
Besides the ladies love that big soft seat.
Ditto! But if it's not possible, go with the softail custom. I rented a sporty in the beginning. I tried to ride that any sort of distance and I felt like I had gotten off a ride from Disney Land when it was over (not in a good way ) It was so bumpy and felt so small. I got the courage to go to a bigger bike and tried the dyna low rider. MUCH better. My bro got me to rent the softail next, and I ended up buying one that day. Haven't looked back since.
Traded my 09 Sportster in 2 weeks ago on an 09 Softail Custom. Haven't regreted it yet. The softail is a much more comfortable ride. Put 1000+ miles on it since I got, now they can't get it in for the 1000 mile service for 2 weeks. Oh well guess it will be a 2000 mile service. Go for it.
I just purchased my first bike last year and I went right to a 2007 softail custom and I love it. I thought about trying a Sporter first, but I'm glad I made the decision on my softail. It looks good, rides great and it is definitely more comfortable for my wife on the rear seat. I love it.
Well if you're asking about comfort and performance then it sounds as if you haven't ridden a Softail yet. If you haven't then by all means take one for a ride. The bike will sell itself.
