After checking out the ape hanger **** thread, AGAIN, I still have a few questions on mirrors.
Some run their mirrors "normally". On top of the bars.
Some run them under the bars.
And the number of different shapes is huge!
I currently have only my stock mirrors with my Carlini bars (14" Flyin' Apes). The controls are right at eye level and placing the mirrors on top seems too high. With all the no-mind cager's around here, raising my eyes off the road to check out my mirrors doesn't strike me as very wise.
I've mounted them under the bars and didn't really care for the look. Although this seems like a better height... Just a slight turn of the head or quick glance and all is well.
I may end up with the mirrors below the bars, but I'm curious as to what mirrors others are running... Above or below the bars? And... WHY?
Thanks!!

I have the HD Skull mirrors on mine. The bars are 14 flyin apes and I like the fact that they provide great visibility with not having to move my elbows up. Some like the look others don't.....I do but if the bars were taller I would probably go under.
I'm running my stock mirrors. I like the way they look. 14" bars on heritage risers. They aint too high for me but I'm 6'1". I haven't tried to mount them under the bar but I think the stockers are too big and clunky for that. I think hspring's Ness mirrors are a good size for that.
There is a third option. A buddy of mine got some mirrors from J&P that mount on the end of his grips. They are small and they look really clean - an almost no mirror appearance. He likes them but I've never thought to ask him about how well he can see out of em. I'll try to remember to ask him tonight.
Stock mirrors on my 12.5's they're ok but I would like the 3'' round mirrors from Licks.
If I had them...I would mount them on the bottom of the clamps.
I have 16" apes on my Xbones , I have Joker Machine View Tech 7 ... 2 different styles , old school , worth the money..and they dont stick out .. here is the link
