Default efi tuning?

Will the stock ecu correct for a k/n air filter and hooker trouble maker pipes? I have a power commander on the bike and had it dynod but i can not fet rid of the backfiring. I am considering taking the power commander off and putting the o2 sensors on it and letting the ecu fix the problem for me. Will this work?

When you say backfiring do you mean deceleration popping? I'm no expert but I had terrible decel popping until I fixed my two exhaust leaks. Is your exhaust leaking anywhere? Even small leaks will lead to decel popping.

I have almost the exact same setup as you (Arlen Ness Big Sucker air cleaner (K&N style filter), Big Shot Fuel Management & Hooker Troublemaker pipes) on my 2006 Night Train and I have the same backfiring issue on decel. I'm told that with the "shorter" pipes like the troublemakers & big radius this is more common and that a good dyno tune will typically correct this. Your bike is propably still running rich and the extra fuel is being burned as it exits the exhaust ports on decel. However, removing the power commander would cause the bike to run extremely lean which would be worse for the bike than just dealing with the popping on decel. I will be getting my bike dyno tuned in the next few weeks and will update this thread to let you know if it helps at all.

My bike used to pop alot on decell. Two things helped to cure first I added tourque cones and this reduced it. then a set of 204 cams, with an advanced map hardly ever pops now. I suggest you contact power comander and explain you troubles. They my be able to send you a better map or help you lean it out a little to reduce the popping. If that dosen't work then you need to get it dynoed.

i never could understand why the stock ecm would not work with adding pipes and a stage 1 breather. I know it would run 14.7 but seems it would not be any different than running stock. i know if you bypass the o2 sensors you will run open loop at about 12. there fore when adding stage 1 to this you get 13.2 to 13.5. I know this because i used to run mine like that.
