Mine are on all the time....The only time I turn them off is when I need to have the ignition on for some reason but the engine isn't running (they will drain the battery badly in that situation).
I leave mine on from dusk til dawn.........during the day I use the single headlight. As long as your charging system is healthy, it's a personal choice.
Like most of eveyone, I leave mine on also. Only time I turn them off is when I am riding with friends...having them off indicates need to stop at next rest area/bathroom...lol
I uses yellow lense covers during the day (Cee Baileys) and run them white (without covers) at night. The yellow lenses really make the bike stand out during the day but are annoying at night (everything seems off color).
I also have the headlamp circuit wired so I can run on hi-beam with the spots when needed. The more visibility the better.
