Default Loose Mirror

Any thoughts on what I could put on the ball joint for the mirror to make it grip a little better but still be able to adjust it? I was thinking a drop of loctite or something.

Thought I'd check for ideas before goobing crap on there.

New mirrors! Chris, you have a gorgeous bike, I always wondered why folks with bikes like this would keep the stock mirrors.

I have and like these, but you could go with these , or even these as well.

Would either of those work? And thanks in advance for allowing me to spend your money.

I've thought about new ones but I like the size and shape of stock. Coming off round mirrors the increased visibility has grown on me.

I'll probably just splooge some loctite on it and see what happens. Just wanted to see if anyone had a trick up their sleeve. If it gets on my last nerve I will probably just replace them.

Sure thing, sorry to hijack. The ones on my bike now give me *great* visibility, as good or better than stock, I think.

If I recall (questionable at my age) on a previous scoot there are a couple of screws on the back of the mirror that can be lossened or tightend. I think the control the friction of the ball joint back there. I didn't ride 'er today so can double check and confirm this when I get back to the garage this evening.

Negative on the screws. I have the same problem. The mirror works fine most of the time, but if I get it up to 55-70mph then the buzzing will shake it to where it droops and dangles downwards. It won't do it at lower speeds or if I don't sustain the high speeds, but if I do cruise at that speed, I can see it start to shake loose and see it start moving down incrementally.

My friend recommended against loctite because he says it dries to a film and it just cracks off when you try to move it again. He says shim it and that's about all you can do with a loose ball joint.

I would love to hear any solutions other than buying a new mirror as well.

Yup, tried a drop last night and checked this morning, no dice.

Nothing a hundred dollars can't fix.

Good idea... I'll try the silicone or plastic shim today.

Yeah. The newer mirrors do go bad like that some times. If it happens under warranty they will replace it. Other than that you could find one on Ebay. Happened on my Softy. I switched it for one on my bagger and it works fine there. Must be something about the Softail "buzz".
