I want to get my dad a Heat Shield for fathers day.... He has a 2007 Softail Deluxe. Does anyone have any thoughts as to which of these would be better and why? I am going to order a plain one as I dont think he will like the custom studding.... Thanks guys.
I installed a set of the Küryakyn Saddle Shield Air Deflectors on my bike. I think I paid about $40 or $50 for the ones that go on a Softail.
I was pleased with how easy they were to install, they're actually kind of hard to see unless you get up close to the bike and even when you can see them they're not objectionable in my opinion. Best of all they seem to work! On an 85+ degree day at a stop light I can feel a whiff of heat coming off the engine, but no more or less than any other bike I've owned.
All this being said; I have also changed the exhaust (V&H BSL), and the A/C (SE), then added a HD Oil Cooler, and have reprogramed the ECU with the TTS System so all these things add up. I'm not sure what the Heat Shields by themselves would do for you.
I had some on my train for a short time. I never measured the temperature but they did block heat. However, they seemed to make the oil tank much hotter by trapping heat around it. I took them off.

Thanks for the input guys.... His bike is all stock and he really doesnt like to do anything to it.... Here in California I think the bikes do run a little hotter due to the are set up to run lean.... I dont think he will change that.....
I will look at the other heat shield mentioned above too.....
Does anyone else have one and is happy with it.... so far the input seems to be that it doesnt do much....
