Default Fatboy purchase

I'm looking at 2 Fatboys and trying to decide. One is a 97 with 21k miles, bags, shield for $8700. The other is a 01 with 15k miles, fuel injected for $9500. I've used the search and have read of the problems of the twin cam, so I'm a bit reserved about the twin cam. Any tips?
Thanks

I ride a twinky, but had an evo prior to that. I'd go with the Evo, although nothing's wrong with the twin cam. New chain tensioners, and you're all set. Can't go wrong with either one. The price for the Evo is 500 too high, IMO, but that's just me.

Thanks. I've been leaning evo for cost and a big aftermarket.

01 fuel injection is MM. Not so good. Get the EVO if those are the only two options.

I have an 01 with FI...no problems yet...runs great. I thought they primarily used MM in the Touring model not the Softails in that year. In the Softails didn't they use Delphi? (least that is what a couple different Harley techs told me). Before I bought my 01 I was worried about the same issue. No regrets yet.

Go with the 97 Fatboy. I have a 96 Fatboy and I love the EVO engine. Plus, the EVO is a lot easier to work on!

I agree about wrenching on an evo being easier. Although I'm currently downsizing in the 4 wheel department partially due to the "I'm tired of working on it." I've only got this life to live. After sobering up 19 months ago, I am gonna live it! Got the fishing trip in Alaska out of the way last summer. This summer is riding my own Harley.

Called on a 96 Fatboy today. 8500 miles, spoke wheels(has the originals), $9500. A bit more than "book" value. This one sounds good. Probably spring some leaks from sitting I would think. Is average miles better than low miles on a used bike?
