Default Fatboy Tire Mod

I have an '02 Fatboy and am really wanting a larger rear tire. I am thinking about 180, and was wondering if anyone has done this, or knows of any good places to get the kit, if you have done it how does it ride now with the bigger rear?

Thank you very much for any help you can offer.

I just put a 150 on my bike....I doubt i could go bigger without other expensive adjustments...(one thing I did when I did this was to make sure my strut/fender mounts did not stick too far into the inner fender b/c with wheel travel up and down it looked like it could rub the tire.

I put a Metzler ME880 160 on the rear of my 04 and it is as big as I think you can go without the full fat tire mod and it does require at least a 3 inch wide wheel, as for the handle it feels just like the 150 it replaced but has a higher load capacity. Go to the Metzler USA site and there is a good amount of info there on what is available and the mods you might need.

Funny, I thought the FB was the same rear end as the Heritage. I looked into it for the purpose of going Darkside, and I found I could put a 175 back there and have 1/4" clear on the belt and fender, the two closest spots. It has like 14mm clear with the stock 150. I'm ordering a 175/75/16, which will lower my speedo reading about 4mph ...and make it 2mph off in the OTHER direction!
This was the ONLY 16" darkside on the planet to fit 175mm.
