i was asking the same thing. i have used metzler and they were the best but the tread life is short and the price is high. the dunlop last the longest and are mid priced, the avon was mid price and last longer, i was going to get cheapest the bridgestone but now i found michelins for same price. such a confusing market. and now PIRELLI DIABLO are same price as others. http://www.americanmototire.com/cata...oducts_id=3700
i am leaning toward MICHELIN PILOT POWER 2CT 190/55ZR-17 REAR because of the name
Even the independant shops that I go to agree that the Dunlops are the best all around for price, life, and performance and they carry all brands. They are all that I have had.
the price one can get online, I've stayed with the lops..
Dennis kirk pair of HD lops for My heritage was $216 to the door in three days..
10.5k on rear on both 1st two. and 21k on the front.
I prefer Avon's and Metzlers for stickiness to the ground. Tires are a "safety item" as far as I am concerned and worth the extra money. It really all depends on what bike bike and size wheels you have as to what is available. I get 10K per rear on both of these brands. I'd probably a couple of thousand more on Dunlop's but refuse to run them. hard as a rock from my experience. At least the 402's that were on my bike when I bought it.
I have been getting positive feedback with the Metzler's. Everyone I have talked to that went from their "lop's" to the Metzler's were never going back. I have yet to try them but the feedback is consistent.
Can't stand my stock Dunlop...so today i purchased a AVON 150/80B16 WW. After looking at Dr.Vtwin's and Stratplexi bikes with this tire filling up thier rear fenders i went in that direction. Looken good and im sure they perform better. I was gonna get a Avon Gangsta tire first off but then found out they only come in one size width ...130...bummer.
metz all the way...i trust em, and handle awsome on wet roads...mileage sux with only 7 to 8 k on em but i cant find a tire that dont spin and handle the twisties on wet roads....my buddys running perelli night dragons and have deep tire tread and sticky but he dont ride wet and doesnt run enough for me to get good info on em to switch...plus i like the 210 width with the 50 height ....better for the sixth gear
Just put a Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart on my FB. A nice all around tire from what I've read. Feels real nice to lean the bike and not have to "muscle" it down or up. I can't remember if the stock Dunlop was a little flat on top to start with though (I did get 13.5K miles w/o the bars showing on 'em!). But this new one looks good and rides very nicely and has great reviews. My worry was that I would only see the review based on a sportbike, so I was worried about the looks also. But once on there, it looked great.
