Replacement Speedometer - Set Odometer?
My 2000 Heritage was stolen last year, cops found it down the street, tank, speedo, seat missing.
Insurance paid for repairs at local HD Dealer. Problem is the new odometer read 0 miles. Never thought much of it until recently I decided to sell my bike.
I called the Dealer and told them I need to odometer set to its accurate mileage. They said its impossible. It needed to be set at the factory when they ordered the replacement.
So I'm stuck trying to sell a 10 year old bike with only 1,000 miles on the odometer.
Does anyone know of a way I can set it to its accurate mileage?

That pretty much sums it up....
don't know if you can ask your dealer to order a new one with the correct mileage... I'm sure they would make you pay for it though....
I have heard on the newer bikes that the actual mileage is kept on the ECU somewhere.... not sure if they could access it or not....
worst comes to worst...honesty is the best policy...

Tell the buyer you don't know the actual mileage. The title usually has a place you can certify that the speedo is inaccurate and does not show the actual miles. As above, it needs to come set to the desired miles from the moco and you would just be guessing anyway.
You won't be able to adjust the mileage on the digital odometer. If there was a way shysters would be doing it all the time. One of the comments here was your only choice, order a new speedo from the dealership (3-6 weeks) and advise them of the mileage. It will come calibrated. Sorry there isn't another way.
Thanks guys. I guess I'll take a chance and have the Dealer replace the speedo again and hope I can recover half my money selling this "almost new" speedo showing about 1,000 miles.
I have the service records on the bike so I do know the actual mileage, within a few hundred miles.

You could try to find a used on on ebay with the same approximate mileage. A friend of mine had the speedo go out on his Heritage and found one on ebay for less than a hundred bucks.

When you order a new one from the dealer, don't they have to verify the mileage before setting it? If so won't it just match the one on the bike now with 1000 miles?
Does the police report from when it was stolen show the mileage on it at that time?

Yep, lots cheaper this way, then sell your one with 1000 miles, should bring over $100. New speedo and maybe some coin for beer while you change it.
Hindsight is twenty twenty. I would remind the dealer they should have ordered one with right mileage last year. Hate when any repair is done half arsed. Might get you a bit of a break anyhow.
